VFX Breakdown for Still Falls the Rain

Just thought I’d post up the VFX breakdown for the very first completed shot of my short film, Still Falls the Rain!

Working on Red Epic footage in 10bit DPX, RedLogFilm format – absolutely beautiful stuff to work with.

Completed in 3 days using Nuke, and proxy geometry models in 3ds Max.

For more info about the film, visit the Official Website.

Still Falls the Rain – Red Epic short film

I’ve been a very very busy guy these last few months! I apologise about not going into my previous film into too much depth, but that is only because I’ve been cooking something much bigger. Just a few weeks after completing it, I started to write Still Falls the Rain – a short film set in the London Blitz about a homeless teenage boy who gets caught stealing food from a bombed house.

I won’t write all about it on this blog, but I’ll instead direct you to its own blog:

Still Falls the Rain

It was shot on the Red Epic camera in two days around London, and is set to be finished in May 2012. Please keep an eye on the short film production blog and Facebook pages, where you can see Behind the Scenes videos, VFX tests, Screenshots etc.

If you like the look of the poster, keep an eye out, as I’m working with PSDtuts to create a tutorial on how it was made, from photography to final touches.

Also, if you don’t already, please feel free to follow me on Twitter for regular updates!

Mephisto

Oh, I’ve been awful at updating this blog! I do apologise. I guess I’ve just been too busy to update it, which is not a bad thing at all!

As of the end of my second year of university last May, I completed my short film (in the form of a trailer) “Mephisto”. It ended up picking up the Grand Prix award at my university’s film festival, as well as some press and industry attention too. Here it is, after long last, complete with VFX breakdowns!

It was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II with Zeiss lenses. My first directorial effort!
